Nordwest Zone is a frozen seafood supplier working from Torton Place in Penrith, at the western edge of Sydney. Christopher Leslie Maher set it up for households along the Nepean who want shellfish and premium seafood without a trip into the city markets.

The catalogue is shellfish-led and deliberately compact: New Zealand scampi, vacuum-packed clams, coquina clams, live oysters, razor clam meat with roe, whole bread crab, baby cuttlefish, small squid, Pacific mackerel and dried sea cucumber. Ten lines, each one frozen down before it reaches us.

Why we sell seafood frozen

Western Sydney summers are hard on fresh seafood. A product that is frozen down at the source and kept solid until it reaches your door has a much better chance of being good on the plate than one that spent an afternoon in a warm car.

How an order is packed and sent

Gel ice in proportion to weight, an insulated liner, and a sealed carton labelled with the species and the day it was packed. Heavier shellfish go at the bottom so nothing is crushed under a box of crab. Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days and delivery is estimated at 7 to 14 business days depending on where you are in Australia. Tracking is emailed as soon as the parcel leaves Penrith.

Built for Western Sydney and the Nepean

Because most of our customers are cooking for a family, the packs are portioned for four rather than for a tasting menu. If you want to know how much to order for a steamer night or a barbecue, ask before you buy and we will give you a straight answer.
